On February 5, Akmal Saidov , First Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Director of the National Center for Human Rights of the Republic of Uzbekistan met with Dr. Turki Abdulla al-Mahmoud, Director of the Human Rights Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar .

At the beginning of the meeting, Turki Abdulla al-Mahmud thanked the delegation of Uzbekistan for the visit. As was mentioned during the meeting with the political will of the leaders of the two countries and the support of people, a completely new page has been opened in the history of our mutual friendship and cooperation.

The fact that the leaders of the two countries have met 6 times in the next three years is a clear sign that the high-level dialogue between our countries has intensified. It was also noted that on December 19, 2023, the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Soni, during the visit of His Excellency Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Soni to Tashkent, the awarding ceremony with the award "For great achievements in the field of anti-corruption" was held at a high level, which made a great impression on the Qatari public.

Last year, embassies of two countries were opened in Tashkent and Doha, visa-free regime was introduced between our countries. It was noted during the conversation that all this, undoubtedly, stimulated the rapid development of mutual cooperation in trade-economic, cultural-humanitarian and many other areas.

At the same time, Turki Abdulla al-Mahmud briefly mentioned that the 4th Universal Periodic Report of the State of Qatar will be considered at the UN Human Rights Council in October 2024. He expressed deep gratitude to Uzbekistan for inviting him to the Samarkand Forum on Human Rights, which will be held in Uzbekistan this year.

During the cordial dialogue, the parties agreed on the development of international cooperation in the field of human rights.

"In Qatar, we build not only bridges, but connections" was mentioned once again by His Highness Sheikh Tamim, one of the wise leaders of the state of Qatar . It was noted with pleasure that the agreements reached within the framework of this meeting indicate that the foundation stone of close friendship between the two state agencies has been laid, and that this is a practical proof of these kind words.
