By Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated June 22, 2020 “On approval of the National Strategy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the field of human rights”, the badge “For the protection of human rights” was established. By the Decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated November 3, 2020, the Regulations, description and certification of the badge were approved.

The purpose of the establishment of this sign is to encourage and reward citizens and organizations that have made a great contribution to the protection of human rights and freedoms, as well as to popularize the example of those who are role models in the implementation of this activity and their experience. This is intended to strengthen the activities of state bodies, civil society institutions and citizens in the field of human rights protection.

This badge can be awarded to citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan who have made a worthy contribution to the protection of human rights and freedoms, the promotion of a culture of human rights and the development of this direction in general.

Also, representatives of foreign countries, as well as organizations working in the field of human rights protection, can be awarded with the badge "For the Protection of Human Rights".

On December 4th of this year, a solemn ceremony is planned to present badges to candidates recognized as praiseworthy of the award “For the Protection of Human Rights” for 2023. This event is part of the broader celebration marking the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights
