On April 30, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a presentation on the establishment of Al-Khwarizmi University.
In August 2022, the Head of state initiated the construction of the Al-Khwarizmi Campus in the city of Urgench. The campus will house a university and a specialized school named after the great scholar.
The presentation outlined measures for the creation of these educational institutions and highlighted their key areas of focus.

The university will comprise three faculties: Mathematics and Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, and Artificial Intelligence. It will train specialists for key sectors such as economics, information technology, industry, security, energy, and environmental protection. Instruction will be conducted in Uzbek and English, following a credit-modular system.
The academic process will be modeled on the experience of the New Uzbekistan University and implemented in cooperation with leading higher education institutions from countries such as the United Arab Emirates, the People’s Republic of China, and the United Kingdom.
Student admissions are scheduled to begin in the 2025-2026 academic year, with a projected total enrollment of between 4,000 and 6,000 students.

The campus will also host a branch of the Muhammad al-Khwarizmi School based in Tashkent. Admissions to the school will be held on a competitive basis for students completing the 4th grade. The final two years of the program will focus on introductory engineering training.
The Head of state emphasized that the university campus should become a comprehensive space that harmoniously combines academic activity with the historical, scientific, and tourism potential of Khorezm. A document has been signed authorizing the establishment of these modern educational institutions.
